BEHIND THE CHARACTERS

It Started With One Grinch Costume

Magical Holiday Visits began in Texas in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. At a time when many people were dealing with loss, isolation, and uncertainty, dressing as Mr. Grinch became a way to bring some laughter and happiness back into people's lives.

What started as one character quickly became something much more meaningful. Making people smile, especially when they are going through a difficult time, became a personal calling.

After moving from Texas to Kentucky in 2021, the Grinch tradition continued. Over time, more characters joined the family.

The Easter Bunny was added in 2024 after a neighbor suggested the idea. In 2025, Uncle Sam joined for a Fourth of July parade while walking with adults with special needs.

Painting the beard white for Uncle Sam helped inspire another idea, and Saint Nick joined later in 2025. In 2026, Santa Claus became the newest addition to Magical Holiday Visits.

Some of the most meaningful appearances are visits with seniors and people with special needs. Watching someone light up when a character walks into the room is a reminder that a little bit of holiday magic can mean a lot at any age.

❤️ A Georgetown Christmas Memory

During the 2021 Georgetown Christmas parade, a little girl was initially afraid of Mr. Grinch. Later, she came back and said, “Mr. Grinch, I’m not afraid of you anymore. I want you to have this.”

She handed over a small bag of fresh-popped kettle corn. It was such a simple gesture, but it became one of those moments that is impossible to forget.

Visits to senior living communities have created some especially meaningful memories. Dancing with residents, hearing their laughter, and seeing their smiles is a reminder that the joy of a character visit is not just for children.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a character visit cost?

A 15-minute Quick Character Visit is $50, a 30-minute Classic Character Visit is $75, and a 60-minute Extended Character Visit is $125. Regular pricing is the same for all characters.

Can I book a character for more than one hour?

Yes. Additional time beyond the 60-minute visit is $50 per additional 30 minutes, subject to availability.

For example, 90 minutes is $175, two hours is $225, 2.5 hours is $275, and three hours is $325. Appearances longer than three hours can be requested as a custom quote.

Do you travel outside Georgetown?

Yes. Travel within approximately 20 miles of Georgetown, Kentucky is included in the regular appearance price.

Absolutely. Photos are welcome. Magical Holiday Visits does not provide a professional photographer, so you can use your own phone or camera or arrange your own photographer.

Do you do parades, festivals, and community events?

Yes. Parades, festivals, large community events, business events, and other special appearances may require custom pricing based on the event.

Does submitting a form guarantee my booking?

No. Submitting a Character Appearance Request does not guarantee character, date, or time availability. Your appearance is confirmed after the details are agreed upon and the required deposit is received.

Sometimes a Visit Means a Little More

Some visits are about more than a celebration. Magical Holiday Visits welcomes submissions for senior living communities, special-needs organizations, hospitals, and people or families going through difficult circumstances.

These visits are considered individually and with care. Depending on the circumstances, arrangements may be handled differently from a standard character appearance.

Tell me about the person, family, or organization you have in mind and why a character visit would be meaningful. Please do not include private medical information or other sensitive information.

Sharing a Visit From the Heart does not guarantee a visit, specific character, date, availability, or special pricing. Each submission is considered individually and with care.

BEFORE YOUR VISIT

Booking Policies

These policies help keep scheduling clear and make each appearance as enjoyable as possible.

Deposit & Payment

A 25% deposit is required to reserve a confirmed character, date, and time.

The deposit is applied toward the total price. The remaining balance is due no later than the day of the appearance.

Accepted payment methods include cash, Cash App, and check. Cash App details are provided privately.

Cancellations

If you cancel more than 72 hours before your scheduled appearance, every effort will be made to transfer your deposit to another available date.

Cancellations within 72 hours are normally non-refundable.

Unexpected Circumstances

Illness, severe weather, family emergencies, and other unexpected circumstances will be considered case by case.

If Magical Holiday Visits must cancel an appearance, payments already made for that appearance will be refunded.

Outdoor Appearances

Outdoor appearances may need to be adjusted, moved indoors, or rescheduled if weather conditions create a safety concern or could damage a costume.

Pet-Friendly Visits

All five characters can participate in pet-friendly visits when appropriate. The comfort and safety of the pet, character, and everyone involved always come first.

Photography

Photos are welcome, but Magical Holiday Visits does not provide a professional photographer. Guests may use their own phone, camera, or photographer.

Extended Appearance Time

Additional time beyond 60 minutes is $50 per additional 30 minutes and is subject to availability.

Additional time should be arranged in advance whenever possible. If an event runs beyond its scheduled appearance time, staying longer is subject to availability and may be charged at the extended-time rate.

Parades, festivals, large community events, and other special appearances may require custom pricing.

Travel

Travel within approximately 20 miles of Georgetown, Kentucky is included in regular appearance pricing.

Locations more than 20 miles away may have an additional travel fee based on round-trip distance.

Appearances more than two hours away may still be requested and will be considered individually. Additional travel fees and/or special arrangements may be required.

Safety & Respect

Magical Holiday Visits reserves the right to decline or end an appearance if conditions become unsafe, threatening, inappropriate, or create a significant risk of damage to a costume.

For Visits From the Heart, you may also choose to provide information about the person or organization receiving the visit and why the visit would be meaningful. Please do not submit private medical information or other sensitive information that is not necessary to arrange the visit.

How Your Information Is Used

Information submitted through this website is used to respond to your submission, check character availability, plan your appearance, provide pricing or travel information, communicate about your booking, and provide the services you request.

Sharing Your Information

Magical Holiday Visits does not sell or rent your personal information. Information may be processed by third-party services that help operate the website and receive form submissions, such as Formspree.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of Magical Holiday Visits or others.

Photos

Guests are welcome to take their own photos during character appearances. Magical Holiday Visits will not use customer photos for website, advertising, or social media purposes without permission when permission is required.

Data Security

Reasonable care is taken when handling information submitted through the website. However, no website, email service, or online form can guarantee completely secure transmission or storage of information.

Children's Privacy

This website and its forms are intended for adults arranging character appearances. Children should not submit personal information through this website without the involvement of a parent or legal guardian.
